BUDAPEST CITY BREAKS
Budapest - The City
The city probably enjoyed its great
social success and prestige at the end of the 19th
century with
the
founding
of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Budapest has absorbed
much of it’s grandeur from its fellow-Europeans.
London’s Houses of parliament and Vienna’s
School of Architecture inspired the 19th century neo-gothic
Parliament building. To see 14th century Budapest,
it is necessary to take the funicular railway on Buda
side
of the river up to Castle Hill. Here you can see the
Palace, Matthias Church and Buda Royal Castle. This
entire area is a UNESCO World Heritage project and
the restoration
work is a joy to behold. Also from Castle Hill you
can spectacularly view the city from the Fisherman’s
Bastion.
We are particularly delighted to offer this marvellous
value for money break with connections through Prague’s “hassle
free” airport.
