The Marco Polo changed hands from Orient Lines to Transocean Tours at the start of 2008 and is now based out of Tilbury.

	MARCO POLO Reach out on a Journey of Discovery The 22,080grt Bahamian flagged Marco Polo with her handsome traditional profile, beautiful teak decks and distinctive dark blue hull is a fully stabilised and air conditioned classic ocean liner, extensively re-built in 1993 for the discerning premium cruise market. She can accommodate up to 850 guests and has eight passenger decks, serviced by three main lobbies and four lifts. Marco Polo is certified with Ice Class for cruise liners and she is designed to sail in Arctic and Antarctic waters having a reinforced hull, a helipad as well as ten covered boats, with a capacity for some 960 persons. Due to environmental regulations, our cruises to the Antarctic have a reduced passenger capacity of just 500 and landings in these remoter regions are facilitated by the ten expedition-style zodiacs. The nautical responsibilities are in the capable hands of the highly skilled Captain Alexander Golubev, a Master with eighteen years experience some of which was gained on board specialist polar expedition vessels. He has cruised the Arctic and Antarctic waters more than forty times and is therefore entitled to call himself Ice-Master, a sought-after designation which is only awarded to Masters with extensive experience in the ice regions.
