Expedition Ships

   MS Island Sky
This deluxe vessel recently underwent a significant refit and is one of the finest small ships in the world. Built in 1992, all the cabins are in fact suites with a sitting room area with good outside views. Those on the lower deck have portholes, the middle two decks have large picture windows and the two top decks have patio doors leading on to a private balcony. Each suite affords considerable comfort with en-suite bathrooms, large wardrobes and excellent storage. There are mini-fridges, telephone and towelling dressing gowns in each suite.

The spacious and finely decorated public rooms include a lounge, elegant bar, library and a single seating dining room. Outside there is a rear sun deck where meals are served in warm weather under shade, a bar, spa pool and comfortable deck furniture. In the top deck there is a further observation and sun deck.

The maximum complement of passengers is 116

   MV Polar Star

MV Polar Star is the first ice-breaker to be fully converted for expedition cruising and on board you will find a range of cabins and public rooms that have been well planned. With a capacity of 105 passengers she is the ideal size for expedition cruising. Ninety percent of passenger cabins offer private facilities and all cabins have outside views. Category K1 is a three berth cabin for twin ruse and is the only category with shared facilities. Categories K2 and K3 both have large windows and two lower beds. Category K4 is a superior double with side and aft facing windows. Category K6 is a mini suite with double bed and category K7 is a suite with two rooms and double bed or two twin beds.

For a ship of this size is offers excellent public areas and large open deck space. Facilities include a single sitting dining room offering international cuisine, a large panoramic lounge, library, gymnasium, shop and bar.

   MV Explorer

One of the best known expedition cruise ship in the world, MV Explorer was also the first custom-built expedition ship. Small enough to allow you to visit small inlets and bays, yet large enough to ensure a comfortable and secure voyage, she has sailed to every corner of the world. In addition to tenders, there is the added advantage of the use of the ship's zodiac craft which are ideal for landings in isolated spots.

With a maximum of 100 passengers, the spacious dining room accommodates all passengers at one sitting and is arranged on an open seating basis. There is an 'open bridge' allowing you to participate in the events on board.

   Oceanic Princess

Most expedition vessels have been converted to expedition vessels with the exception of the Oceanic Princess , which has been specifically designed for expedition cruising around Australasia and the South Pacific. Built in 2005 she can accommodate 76 passengers in air conditioning comfort.

Passenger cabins all have outside views and private bathrooms are located over three decks. There is a single sitting dining room, large lounge and bar. The top deck is allocated for observation and relaxation with comfortable deck furniture and spa pool.

   MS Stockholm

In 1999 MS Stockholm was totally refitted and is a comfortable and ice-strengthened passenger ship. She carries a maximum of 12 passengers in outside twin cabins all with private facilities. She is a marvellous piece of maritime history with beautiful brass details. With a party of 12 on board it is like travelling on a private yacht and offers an entirely different experience and perspective to the more conventional vessel. The vessel is equipped with inflatable landing craft which will allow you to explore the face of glaciers and nudge within yards of the wildlife on the floating ice.

  MV Sea Voyager

MV Sea Voyager carries up to 62 passengers in 31 spacious cabins. All cabins have large picture windows, tastefully appointed cabins with lower berths, private facilities, hairdryers and individually controlled air conditioning.

She is also equipped with kayaks which allow passengers to explore areas even zodiacs can not reach. Other features include snorkelling equipment, undersea specialist, splash-cam and video microscope.

   National Geographic Endeavour

The original Endeavour was Captain Cook's first expedition ship and epitomizes the spirit of expedition cruising. MS Endeavour has 62 passenger cabins face outside and all have a private shower and toilet (there are no bathtubs). Cabins are divided over three decks with cabins on the A and Main decks having port holes, whilst cabins on the Upper deck have picture windows (with the exception of cabin 109 what has port holes). All cabins have climate control and vary in shapes and sizes.

The dining room accommodates all passengers at a single seating. Other facilities include a large lounge and bar (which also serves as a lecture room), a library (also for bridge), small swimming pool, sun and observation decks, gift shop, massage therapist, fitness suite, sauna and laundry service. There is a full time doctor and small clinic.

The ship's Zodiac landing craft are used whenever possible to take passengers shore, landing on beaches or small jetties, giving you the flexibility to explore even the most remote regions.

   Yorktown Clipper

The Yorktown Clipper was specifically designed for cruising in coastal waters. The ship's easy manoeuvrability and shallow draft enable exploration of secluded waterways beyond the reach of bigger vessels. A fleet of motorised landing craft can be launched in minutes for spontaneous landings on small islands.

The spacious Observation Lounge and elegant dining room are window-lined so that the outside world is always in view.

An onboard naturalist and historian explain and recap each day's event in informal talks.

   Clipper Adventurer

The Clipper Adventurer   is classified A-1 ice class for unrestricted passenger service by Lloyds Register, and is one of only a handful of vessels specifically designed for Polar cruising. Her ice-strengthened hull and advanced technology satellite navigation and communication equipment enable her to operate safely in the most remote corners of the world.

Visits ashore will be aboard Zodiac landing craft. These ideal boats carrying between 10-12 passengers allow direct access to beaches and landing points which would not be possible with conventional tenders.

On board the Clipper Adventurer you will find an experienced expedition tam of naturalists, geologists and historians who will provide daily briefings on the ship, as well as accompany you on your forays ashore.

Facilities on board include the Main Lounge, the Clipper Club, a library, a small gymnasium and a hairdressing salon. There are ample deck areas and promenades for viewing the passing scenery. The window-lined dining room accommodates all passengers in a single sitting. All cabins all have outside views and private shower and toilet. There is also a doctor on board.

   Clipper Odyssey

Clipper Odyssey can accommodate up to 128 passengers, all in outside cabins which are located over four decks. The cabins average 186 square feet and feature a sitting area, twin or queen-size beds, ample storage space, dressing table, hair-dryer, refrigerator, television, telephone, personal safe, individiually controlled air-conditioning and music system. Each cabin has a private bathroom with shower/small tub.

Public areas are spacious with two lounges, library, lido bar, gymnasium, hairdressers and a good-size swimming pool. The open-Bridge policy allows passengers access to the Bridge and charts, and the opportunity to discuss the course with an officer. There will be daily briefings and talks from guest speakers and the expedition staff.
