Discovering the Scenic Amalfi Coast

From £2499pp
16 Nights

Highlights:

  • Experience Italy’s beautiful Amalfi Coast to the full, from Borealis and ashore
  • Revel in the coastal scenery, discover Roman sites and more, in Amalfi, Sorrento & Salerno
  • Away from Amalfi, there are chances to explore ancient Rome and Cagliari

Experience the beauty, history and unique charm of Italy’s Amalfi Coast, and sample local flavours such as sharp Limoncello too, as you sail this beautiful region and visit its clifftop-perched towns. Spend time in Amalfi Town, wandering its ancient narrow streets and admiring the fine architecture on display, from the Arab-Romanesque style Cattedrale di Sant’Andrea to the Moorish-style Cloister of Paradise; or perhaps take a trip to nearby Atrani Town to relax on the quiet little beach. In Sorrento, see sights such as St. Francis Monastery and the Basilica di Sant’Antonino as you explore, and catch views of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. Sorrento is the ideal starting point for tours to the UNESCO-listed towns of Herculaneum and Pompei, famously destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in AD79, too.

Where the Amalfi Coast and Cilento National Park meet, you’ll also visit Salerno. With its medieval churches, castles and terraced gardens, the town offers an insight into the region’s rich Roman heritage. What’s more, as you arrive at and depart from each destination on the Amalfi Coast, you’ll take in unspoilt views of its rugged cliffs, peaks and pretty beaches. Away from Amalfi, a stop at Civitavecchia is a chance to visit Rome, take in its ancient sites such as the Forum and Palatine Hill, and even go ‘behind the scenes’ at the Colosseum, a modern Wonder of the World, for an in-depth look into why it’s such a symbol of the Roman reign. Visiting Cagliari will be an undoubted highlight too; you’ll dock close to the centre of Sardinia’s capital and be perfectly placed to go in search of lesser known, but important, Roman sites, such as ancient Nora and the Temple of Antas.
