Screen Shot 2019-07-24 at 13.24.13.pngThe Garden House Visit - On the edge of the mystical Dartmoor National Park, in a feast of colour spanning across eight acres of South Devon landscape, lies The Garden House. Explore and surround yourself in more than 6000 varieties of plants and flowers, designed and planted by Lionel Fortescue and his wife Katherine in the mid 1940’s. Keith Wiley , Lionel’s successor, added his own stamp to this part of the gardens, particularly the Oval garden, in the form of a stone sculpture and a thatched summerhouse. Enjoy a guided tour with Head Gardener, Nick Haworth, who prides in keeping with the Fortescue tradition of planting only the best plants in the garden. Nick walks you through time, past the old Vicarage walls to explore the Cottage Garden and the magnificent South African garden that boasts being at the forefront of naturalistic planting, working in harmony with nature, allowing flowers to intermingle while providing a kaleidoscope of colour.

Finally enjoy a local Devonshire cream tea in the Garden House.

Keith Wiley’s Wildside Garden -
Inspired by their travels seeing wildflowers around the world, Keith Wiley and his wife Ros have created a colourful landscape packed full of grasses and perennials.
